Advanced Placement AP and Honors Classes
William Penn High School is proud to offer the largest number of Advanced Placement courses.
The AP curriculum, administered by The College Board, consists of standardized high school courses that are roughly equivalent to undergraduate college courses. After completing an AP class, students typically take the AP exam in that subject, which can earn them college credits and accelerated placement in college. AP Exams are usually administered during the first two weeks of May.
WPHS operates on a weighted and unweighted GPA Scale:
- We use a 4.0 unweighted GPA Scale assigned to letter grades – (A=4, B=3, C=2, D=1 and F=0).
- Honors courses operate on a 4.5 weighted scale – (A=4.5, B=3.5, C=2.5, D=1 and F=0).
- Advanced Placement (AP) and Dual Enrollment Coursework operate on a 5.0 weighted scale – (A=5, B=4, C=3, D=1 and F=0).
