Students’ arrival begins at 7:05 am, and the first class starts at 7:20 am, at which time they are considered tardy/late. Dismissal is at 1:50 pm, with buses departing by 2:00 pm.
William Penn rotates on an A/B schedule. Students meet with Periods 1-4 on “A Days” and Periods 5-8 on “B Days”. Each class is about 70 minutes long.
There is one additional “skinny period” (Periods 0 and 10) that students attend daily on both A and B Days. Sometimes referred to as Homeroom, MTSS, Penn Period, or Academic Enrichment, this 40-minute skinny period hosts a variety of activities from SAT Math and English prep, to Social-Emotional-Learning activities, to activities surrounded by like-minded individuals fostering creativity (daytime clubs).
Breakfast and lunch are FREE to all students at William Penn High School. Students can get breakfast as they walk into the building and eat it in their first block class. Later, students report to the cafeteria for a 30-minute lunch with their classmates during the extended Periods 3 and 7. There are three different lunch times, so you/your child may have “A lunch”, “B lunch” or “C lunch”. Students are assigned to either Cafeteria 1 or Cafeteria 2, based on the location of their class.
